Ce projet vise a restaurer une parcelle d'épicéas monospécifiques scolytés. En effet, à l'instar de l'agriculture, la monoculture appauvrit les sols, affaiblit la biodiversité et augmente la vulnérabilité des peuplements aux aléas. Ici, c'est un coléoptère, le scolyte qui a provoqué un dépérissement massif du peuplement en place. En effet les populations de ce coléoptères ont explosé ces dernières années avec des hivers trop doux notamment.
Trois espèces de résineux seront introduites, mais il faut surtout noter la réintroduction de feuillus comme le hêtre qui est une espèce naturellement présente dans la région et qui est particulièrement adaptées aux sols et au climat. L'objectif de ce reboisement est d'augmenter le potentiel de résilience du massif forestier dont il fait partie et de permettre à la diversité de réinvestir le massif. Une petite partie du projet consiste à reboiser une sous-parcelle laissée en friche.

This project is rooted in south-west Germany, not far from the Belgian border, in the Eifel, a very hilly area alternating between forests and farmland.

Over the course of the 20th century, the region was heavily enresinned, in particular with the massive planting of spruce, a resinous species prized for the technological characteristics of its wood and its ability to grow quickly. Unfortunately, spruce has been planted as a monoculture, and in recent years the bark beetle has decimated most of the stands. This is an unprecedented disaster for German and European forests.

The aim of this project is to restore a plot of bark-affected monospecific spruce trees. Like agriculture, monoculture impoverishes soils, weakens biodiversity and increases the vulnerability of stands to hazards. In this case, it was a beetle, the bark beetle, that caused massive dieback of the existing stand. Populations of this beetle have exploded in recent years, due in particular to excessively mild winters.
Three coniferous species will be introduced, but it is particularly important to note the reintroduction of deciduous trees such as beech, a species that occurs naturally in the region and is particularly well adapted to the soil and climate. The aim of this reforestation is to increase the resilience potential of the forest massif of which it is a part, and to allow diversity to reinvest the massif. A small part of the project consists of reforesting a sub-parcel left fallow.

En Meurthe-et-Moselle dans le Grand-Est, la forêt d’Ormes a fait l’objet d’une forte coupe en 1975. Avec le temps, cette futaie de chêne s’est régularisée et le nouveau propriétaire souhaite favoriser le renouvellement de son peuplement en diversifiant les essences qui le composent. Afin d’accompagner une régénération naturelle déjà présente sur 35% de la surface, le projet prévoit de conserver les semenciers présents, de conduire des travaux sylvicoles pour valoriser la régénération présente et d’enrichir le peuplement d’essences diverses indigènes pour accélérer la régénération du massif. Cette diversité apportée viendra enrichir la biodiversité sur la zone et ainsi créer de nouveaux habitats. Les arbres valorisés seront plus résistants et le patrimoine génétique qui se développe sur les parcelles sera conservé.  À terme, le projet permettra d'augmenter la capacité d'accueil de la faune et flore locale et contribuera à la création d’un puit de carbone dans cette zone.

This oak grove is located in Meurthe et Moselle, 25 kilometres south of Nancy, in a highly agricultural area that suffered from heavy harvests in the 1980s. 

Today, to continue to have an economically viable forest that is welcoming to biodiversity and useful for soil and water protection, the owner wants to work on natural regeneration and the irregularisation of the stand to obtain a mosaic forest.

The new owner of this Oak high forest wishes to diversify the species in it. 
In order to support a natural regeneration already present on 35% of the surface, the project plans to conserve the current seed trees, to conduct silvicultural work to enhance the existing regeneration and to enrich the stand of various native species to accelerate the regeneration of the massif. 

This diversity will enrich the biodiversity of the area and create new habitats. The recovered trees will be more resistant and the genetic heritage that develops on the plots will be preserved. 

Eventually, the project will increase the capacity of the local fauna and flora and will contribute to the creation of a carbon sink that will help in the fight against global warming.

In this sensitive environmental context, Reforest’Action works in partnership with a Guinean NGO, RENASCEDD (National Network of Civil Society for Environment and Sustainable Development), to plant around 161,416 trees in the Boffa prefecture, a hundred kilometres north of Conakry. 

The project helps restore degraded forests around the associated villages and develop agroforestry. Thanks to the mangroves or forest-gardens, the forest ecosystems thus recreated will offer a multitude of priceless services for the climate, nature and local populations.

Guinea Conakry is experiencing increasing degradation of its environment and forests, posing a threat to present and future generations. Traditional agriculture, artisanal salt extraction, fish smoking, mining and the population explosion are the main causes of deforestation in rural areas. Guinea's coastal areas have also suffered greatly from mangrove deforestation, with direct consequences for the living conditions of local populations.

RENASCEDD (Réseau National de la Société Civile pour l'Environnement et le Développement Durable - National Civil Society Network for the Environment and Sustainable Development) is an NGO created in 2016 by Sekou Amadou Diakité, headquartered in Conakry, the capital of Guinea. A non-political, non-profit organization, the network brings together non-state actors working in the environmental field. It is made up of young people committed to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development. RENASCEDD collaborates with various development partners, such as the UNDP (United Nations Development Program), the GEF (European Globalisation Adjustment Fund), Guinean administrative authorities and local elected representatives. Thanks to funding from Reforest'Action, RENASCEDD is able to deploy reforestation projects in Guinea alongside local communities.

In Guinea, the reforestation project aims to create garden forests to enable local people to harvest fruit and diversify their sources of income through agroforestry. It also aims to plant mangroves to restore coastlines and combat rising sea levels. 
In a sensitive environmental context, marked by increasing deforestation, Reforest'Action has joined forces with a Guinean NGO, RENASCEDD (Réseau National de la Société Civile pour l'Environnement et le Développement Durable - National Civil Society Network for the Environment and Sustainable Development), to plant trees.

Reforest'Action is partnering with Rioterra, to implement a reforestation project in the State of Rondônia, in the southwest of the Brazilian Amazon. This state is part of the “deforestation arc” formed by vast territories where the agricultural frontier and deforestation have greatly increased in recent decades. The aim of this project is to restaure forest in Rio Preto Jacunda Extractivist reserve by the creation of fruit forests. The project also aims to carry out environmental awareness and education programs among local and traditional populations

RESPONSIBLE_CONSUMPTION_AND_PRODUCTION

The Amazon rainforest, one of the world's three largest primary rainforests, is also one of the hardest hit by deforestation, with 400 million trees disappearing every year. The main cause is industrial agriculture, which accounts for two-thirds of deforestation in South America. Brazil, the world's largest soya producer, has converted 18% of its forest ecosystems since 1970 to cattle breeding and soya crops, through clear-cutting and burning. Our reforestation project, driven on the ground by our partner Rioterra, is located in the State of Rondônia, in the southwest of the Brazilian Amazon, which is part of the “deforestation arc” formed by vast territories where the agricultural frontier and deforestation have greatly increased in recent decades.

The Center for Cultural and Environmental Studies of the Amazon Region Rioterra is an NGO founded in 1999, whose aim is to propose a development model for the Amazon region which combines conservation, sustainability and improved quality of life for local populations. Their mission: to defend the identity of the Amazon rainforest, promote culture and the sustainable use of the environment, and contribute to a fair, democratic and participatory society. Rioterra coordinates the implementation of our project in the field and monitors the planted trees through visits by their experts and drone images. A technical representative from the NGO visits the site once a month for the first six months, and every three months thereafter, to ensure that the trees are growing well, and that the planted forests are sustainable.

Reforest'Action is partnering with Rioterra to implement a reforestation project in the State of Rondônia, the fourth most deforested region in the Amazon. Spread over three years, the project aims to recover the original Amazonian Forest landscape and to promote the preservation of the Amazonian biodiversity, in addition to generating income for the neighboring population that fully participates in the project. Initiated in October 2020, the second part of the project made it possible to restore illegally degraded former pastures within the extractivist (legally protected) reserve of Rio Preto Jacundá. The objective of this second planting season is to reduce deforestation by creating edible forests. 

This reforestation initiative is intended to support the essential efforts to reduce deforestation in Amazonia, to which every state, organization and citizen must contribute, in particular by taking action against imported deforestation.
